Gin is a an alcoholic spirit made with a dominant its flavour from juniper berries (Juniperus communis) with two main styles: distilled gin and compound gin.

During its creation it was thought to have medical properties but as the science of distillation advanced it is now popularly used as an ingredient in many cocktail recipies.
