Grappa is an alcoholic drink that obtains its fragrance from its use of grape-based pomace brandy resuting in an alcohol content between 35% and 60%.

The use of the word of Grappa is protection and only applies to alcoholic drinks that follow the following criteria: the drink is produced in Italy, made from pomace and the fermentation/distillation is on the pomace without the addition of water.
