Madeira

Madeira is the name given to fortified Portuguese wines that are produced in the Madeira Islands. There are serveral Madeira wine styles ranging from aperitif types to sweet wines that are used as dessert wine.

The Madeira wine styles are:

- Reserve, 5 years ageing
- Special Reserve, 10 years ageing
- Extra Reserve, more than 15 years ageing
- Colheita or Harvest, Madeira wine from a single vintage aged slightly less than the true vintage style
- Vintage or Frasquiera, wine aged for at least 20 years
